It may have had other names in the past, but I have long since forgotten them. Now it is known only as 'The World'. Or what remains of it. It was once a shining, fantastical place filled with people, magic, and all sorts of amazing creatures. That is, until It happened. The Calamity. No one knows exactly what it was, but it managed to wipe out most life in The World, and scarred a third of The World itself, a place now known as the Deadlands. While only a small portion of The World's life survived the advent of The Calamity, I used the innate magic of The World itself in order to allow them to continue on and try to rebuild what was destroyed. A second chance to live. Then I too, was forgotten by most of The World.

A century has passed since The Calamity struck. I would say that life has returned to normal, but that would be a lie. The survivors still survive, but it seems for every hero that is born, an evil is too. It's a constant battle, trying to protect what they love, protecting it from the ever spreading darkness that still emanates from the Deadlands. Some even believe The Calamity will strike again. I will do everything in my power to prevent that. Everything and anything to stop it from ending what remains of this beautiful world.

The World itself has changed much since The Calamity struck. Once mighty cities still remain in ruins. Beautiful seas have become as black as night. Forests have become full of darkness and illusion. Yet some places still remain as they were before. If possible, I would see it all restored to its former beauty. But for that, I would need a very powerful group of heroes.

I would give my name if I could remember it. The few who passed down tales of me from before The Calamity have since given me a title. The Goddess of Lights. I wish I could say that I live up to that title, but it seems that the light is fading. Unless we can stop this evil at whatever is its source, we will lose everything we hold dear.

Wishes used to come true. I will try to make it so once again.
