Possible game/dressing room concept?

So I had this really weird, yet cool dream the other night, and I thought it would make an interesting game concept.
First off, the setting is an enormous library. By enormous, I mean, about the size of New York City. Within it is...just about any and every book you can imagine, from every world imaginable. Spellbooks from Harry Potter? The Necronomicon? Dr. Seuss? It has it all. The library is a sort of alternate dimension, a sanctuary for those who needed an escape from the harsh realities of their own worlds.
Within the library are portals to various worlds. If it's been in some kind of literary format (book, comic, manga, etc.), you can travel there. The Librarian oversees this wonderful place. An older man with an odd sense of humor. However, an eternity of watching the library has been as much a curse as a blessing, and he's looking for someone to take his place.
Out of all those who've come to this pocket dimension, he offers you all a series of trials. Pass them all, and you could become the next Librarian. Would you use this for good? Evil? Of course, you don't even have to be there for the trials, you could just be along for the ride. Or you could just use the library for its intended purpose: relaxation. There are even dorms, lounges, and food vendors in certain areas. It is designed for comfort, after all.
-Communication can be done through either meeting in person, or through your journal. Everyone receives a journal, which is magically connected to everyone else's. If you write in it, your entry will appear in every other journal, unless you specify it is only meant for a certain person (Dear 'so-and-so').
-Trials: based on book genres and virtues.
-Worlds
-Quests? Events? Lots of crack stuff for amusement.
