Possible Horror DR in the making?

So I still have a wicked craving to see a horror RP based on the concept of Another. However, since I don't think there would be enough interest to warrant it being made into a full time game, I was considering a Dressing Room instead. There would also potentially be elements from Higurashi, as well as possible nods to other horror stories/games/movies/etc.

The setting would take place in the small and fairly quiet city of Yomiyama (although there will be some liberties taken). Yomiyama has a past history of curses and the supernatural. Many of the citizens of Yomiyama don't speak of these things though, fearing it might bring those curses upon them. However, curses, deaths, and frightening past aside, Yomiyama is a pretty nice place to live! It's quiet, the community is fairly small, and there are things to do.

-Not in the city, but about an hour's drive away there's a beach resort.

-Characters can leave the city! However, after they go a certain distance away, they'll just find themselves back at the edge of the city, with no clue how they returned. (Or they could die, then find themselves back in the Hospital)

-I've decided to go with a jamjar thing. Characters have been pulled in by a curse far more powerful than that of 3-3. You could totally have optional memory loss or something, but it's definitely not required. Previous CR and Game AUs, all that is awesome. Bring it on.

I'll have a sort of Taken page set up that'll be first come, first served. However, I will be on the ball with keeping track of this. While there won't be a real activity check, any character that hasn't been active in two months or so without any given reason (aka hiatus), will be removed from the list and be up for grabs.

Also, characters with powers will be nerfed most of the time. However, there will be instances where they may regain them at full strength, or perhaps gain powers they never had before. Pretty much, anything game-breaking will be nerfed. Any destruction to the city will vanish after a short amount of time (a day or two, possibly more during events), and no one besides player characters will remember.

There would likely be monthly or bi-monthly events, ranging from curses and hallucinations, to absolute darkness and lovecraftian beasties. As this is a horror setting, you can expect character trauma, injuries, and death. For characters who die, there will be a week where they remain dead, but they'll come back. While they are technically alive, they'll be 'death-touched'. If a character can sense/see dead things, they will be able to see that your character had previously died. (Ex. Mei Misaki would see your character surrounded by the color of death.) Upon coming back to life, there will be something different about them. They might have lost all their memories, or maybe they've been brainwashed, or maybe they're even possessed...

In addition, due to this being a horror setting, this will be limited to players ages 18+ (although there will be no such limit for characters). Graphic violence, gore, smut, all that's allowed here. I would ask that you give a warning label stating what to expect, though.


Yomiyama is a small, rural Japanese city. At first glance, it seems like a wonderful, quiet place to live. It's peaceful, and everyone seems to know each other. However, all is not as it seems. Yomiyama is a cursed place.

It started more than 20 years ago with Class 3-3 of Yomiyama North Middle School. Misaki Yomiyama had been one of the most popular students, until he died in an unfortunate accident. Unwilling to believe this, his class treated it as if he was still there with them. During the end of the year, when the class photo was taken, Misaki was in the picture. The dead had been among them. Every year afterwards, there always seemed to be one desk short in the classroom. There was one student that should not be there. One student that was dead. Unless certain measures were taken, and even then it didn't always work, those related to the class began to die one after the other.

Only twice was the calamity of 3-3 ever stopped prematurely. Last year was one of those occasions. However, it quickly became clear that something was wrong. Odd events began occurring, and it was no longer limited to just those of Class 3-3. The curse had spread from the class...to the city itself. Now no one knows how to stop it, and no one even knows where to start. Most people think if they simply ignore it and let it be, they'll be safe. But this is where the players come in. Do you have what it takes to solve the mysteries surrounding the curse?

Useful Note: Just a little info on the calamity/phenomenon that occurs in Another. Class 3-3 is known as the class 'closest to death', as it had pretty much welcomed the dead back to join them. However, the cost was that others connected to the class would die. Each year there would be one extra student that should have been dead. However, everyone's memories, and even records were altered, so that knowing exactly who the dead one is/was is nearly impossible to figure out. To date, there has been only one person who knew the identity of the deceased person immediately, and that was Mei Misaki of the latest class.
